News - Julia Gillard - The New Word for Your Dictionary...is

Julia Gillard - The New Word for Your Dictionary...is Australian Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, while on a state visit to India, suffered the indignity of falling over, after her heels sank into the grass she was walking on.

It seems she didn't know about Starlettos, commenting: "I'm fine. For men who get to wear flat shoes all day every day, if you wear a heel it can get embedded in soft grass and when you pull your foot out the shoe doesn't come and the rest of it is as you saw." Exactly right Julia - but that's why in your country, the home of outdoor fashion, we came up with the solution to that exact problem! So that Australian women would never have to worry about heels sinking again...

Video of the incident led the TV news across Australia and was the talk of the breakfast TV and radio programs, and, yes, the footage was played again and again. The video has gone viral, not just on on social media posts, but on global television, and YouTube. Amazing!

This is the second gender-focused controversy for the PM in as many weeks (the first being her use of the word ‘misogyny’ and the subsequent modifications to the Macquarie Dictionary’s definition of the world.

After taking a stand on the misogyny issue, we think she will really dig her heels in after this latest incident, and add a new word to her (and her minders/dressers) vocabulary:

Starlettos n. pl. def, a stylish high heel protector that stops you sinking into the grass."

Thanks to the power of the internet, many people around the world are learning who Julia Gillard is for the very first time, and while they may remember her for ‘the fall’ they will also remember how she handled the subsequent press conference with dignity and humour.

We're sure she will thank the media and commentators for their sympathetic coverage of the event... but at the end of the day, it's probably not how she hopes the visit will be remembered. It was a small glitch in a visit that seeks to strengthen our relationship with one of our most important trading partners - a fast-emerging buyer of Australian products.

It was just such a pity that neither she, nor those who look after her, didn't spend just $15 to have our fast-emerging Australian product, Starlettos with her.

Never mind Julia, what's done is done, but its a shoe-in that millions will now learn from your experience.

At Starlettos, we've decided that the PM has now done more than any other Australian woman to promote the benefits of our product by showing, in global style, what can happen when you don't have them.

So thank you Julia, we will remember you fondly for what you've done for us and as just a say thank you, we'll send you a pair for free so you don't have to do it again.

Its just a pity they don’t work with Slippers!

Ilde and the Starlettos team!
